We have had a great last week of summer. We've been trying to do lots of fun things, as school starts for Mark and I next week, and the boys will be starting daycare. I'm sad that my time at home with the boys is just about over. I know that they (and I, once I'm there) will be happy at school, but I like waking up in the morning, hanging out with my boys, going to playgroups, and racing Theo in the backyard every afternoon.
Anyway, this week was my birthday, and the boys took me out to dinner at Primavera, where Theo and Owen were GREAT, despite the fact that we waited about a half hour for the table and the food took a little while. Owen fell asleep, but Theo had a great time chatting away. We came back and had a 'party' here with a bday cake and some gifts (although they weren't a total surprise, as Theo came home last week with Mark saying, "Mom, we got you a gift card!"). Very nice bday- I wouldn't have wanted anything else.
Yesterday we went to the awesome (but a bit bizarre) place in Holliston. It was a meeting of aSteamEngine club. Basically, members of the club make and run little steam engines (big enough to ride on). Once a year, they meet up at a place in Holliston in the woods, where they built a really long track (complete with tunnels, bridges, etc). Members come and run their trains. You can stand in line to ride on them- each train ride is about 10 minutes. Theo LOVED it. He rode 4 or 5 different trains and would have stayed longer if he could have. We're definitely going back next year, we had such a great day. We came home and crashed and then I got ready and went off to the Neil Diamond concert at Fenway with Steph. Great night :)
Today we met up with some friends from my playgroup and had a big family get together. We got a moonbounce, pinata, and had lots of food. Theo was introduced to water balloons (he was a little concerned when Mark popped the first one, but got on board with the rest very quickly). It was a really nice day.
Now we're relaxing. Owen is trying hard to crawl. His main motivation is to get to Marley. She has now moved herself to the other side of the room, but it doesn't seem to deter him.
